About Roy
Roy is a lifelong resident of Franklin. He graduated from Sumner Memorial High School as salutatorian in 2000 and went on to complete his Computer Science degree with Honors from the University of Maine in 2004. Choosing to stay in Franklin, he built his own private information technology consulting and support business and serves 10 area municipal offices, several small businesses, and numerous private customers. Roy presently serves on both the Schoodic Peninsula Broadband Committee for both Winter Harbor and Gouldsboro, and the Franklin Broadband Committee, with the aim of seeing true broadband internet made available to every resident of those towns. Roy is the IT Manager for Schoodic Institute at Acadia National Park in Winter Harbor.
Roy served as the Franklin board member on the Regional School Unit No. 24 board of directors from September 2012 through March of 2025, serving on the Facilities & Transportation, Personnel, Policy, Strategic Planning, and Finance & Budget committees over the years. Roy participated in several contract negotiations with each of the district's bargaining units and served as the chair of the board from 2016 onward. In 2022 joined the Maine School Boards Association Board as their Region IV (Hancock County) Director, being voted vice president for 2024-25.
Roy values the resilient and enduring character of the Downeast region. The home he lives in is a renovated general store and apartment building that has been in his family since its construction circa 1885. He worked with his parents to preserve this structure and strove to maintain its exterior appearance while modernizing it internally. Likewise, Roy wants to preserve the character of our communities while also generating opportunities for local, organic growth for jobs and families.
